The Holding Cross.

This is a wonderful tool for meditation that I have grown to love. i was given this at Christmas and it is one of my favourite presents of 2008.
It is a simple olive wood cross smooth and designed to sit comfortably in your hand and it is held when you pray. This one came from Spurgeon’s College and says that after Charles Spurgeon founded the college he saw one of these in a book and made it the college motto, “I both hold and am held”.
It can help you focus when you pray. Is great to hold in silence when you cannot find the words. It is also recommended as an aid for the sick and dying just to cling to.
For me it has similar qualities as Rosary Beads or prayer beads.
The cross comes with leaflet containing short prayers to help you focus.
This would be a great resource to use on a retreat with young people and if you have the tools and skills getting them to carve there own would be very powerful and meaningful.
Check them out.
