First lets watch a clip from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers this can be found chapter ……..of the dvd.That clip catches everything in chapter 4 and the whole of 2 Timothy.Comment.Lets look at this chapter.Paul encourages Timothy to preach in and out of season, when it is not right to speak it, demonstrate it by what you do.

Get the crash team here nowAnd the crash team go “Oh theres no hurry, I’m oÂn a break, I’ll just finish my coffee, there is no need to panic.You would not be very happy would you?That is the type of urgency we have with the gospel, a matter of life or death.Did you know that the average person lives for 75 years that is 168 hoiurs a week which makes 655200 hours for the ave lifeTake out of that sleeping ave 8hours a day which is 56 hours a week 2912 hours a year so 218400 for an ave life sleeping .Take that from 655200 and it leaves 436800.Take form that eating, relaxing, school, work and it doesnt leave a great many hours.I have lived aprox 331968 hours which if I live oÂnly to the ave age means I have lived more than half my life.It doesn’t leave many hours does it?I don’t know about you but I want my life to count fopr something, to count for God, after all I’ll have eternity.I have family members who are not yet Christians.Close friends.Pauls advice for this be prepared in at out of season it is urgent.Next when the going gets tough the tough stick with it (back to Lord of the Rings)Frodo can’t go oÂn with the wieght of the ring but sticks at it. etcThen Paul tells it like it is in verse 6-8Paul talks about finishing the race.If you want to be able to say the same you have to have a startegy for the long haul.I was rubbish at 100m by the time I was warming up everyone else had finishedCross country was different I still wasn’t very good but I could sprint a blinder at the end of it which is what we need to be able to do with orur faith. This is Pauls final sprint.At the end Paul asks for support as before no oÂne stood with him/ encouragement.Use Geese illustartion here.Paul is passing oÂn the baton and is believed to have been beheaded shortly after this, whether Timothy got to see him or not is uncertain, but Paul was confident that he was sorted in Christ and had nothing to worry about.Final challenge and round up.
