Young People feeling stereo-typed.

Now Knife crime is a serious issue and as part of my work at Prospex in North London we have really felt the effects of it this year. But the latest suggestion by the government concerns not only me but young people in general. The idea that all young people under 16 have a curfew stereo-types and in a sense criminalises all young people. This morning I asked a group of young people ow they felt about it and they said it just made them all out to be demons and trouble. People assume that just because they are young they are carrying a knife when they would never do so. We have to make sure that all young people do not get tarnished with the same brush.

Spider Web.

This is a fairly easy to set up using bungee shock cord and vine hooks.

The team stand one side and the aim is for them to get all the team to the other side without touching the cord.

The catch is that once someone has gone trough one hole no one else can use it.

Creator of Beauty.

I went to watch my girls sing with Merton Music Foundation in St Pauls Church in Covent Garden London which is also kown as “The Actors Church” during the interval I came across this plaque and loved it, what a great thing to be remembered for.

It is a great visual for a discussion starter and would work well along with How do you want to be remembered.

Scenario 3: The accident.

These scenarios have been tried and tested with young people at Prospex, and have been written by myself and Maxine. They are best used by givig a group the scenario and some time to put their role play together and then present. We have found that leaving them to it without direction from yourselves gives a truer insight to how they see things

Prospex

From Monday I take up the leadership of Prospex the youth work charity I have been working with for some time now.

It is a exciting time and a strange time as Matt Calvert the founder is both a close friend and an inspirational leader. Matt is moving on to forge new initiatives so watch this space and I wish him the very best.

Life giver.

My first abstract.
