After Forever: Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath are a heavy rock band that started in the 70’s fronted by the infamous Ozzy Osbourne but I work with young people who still listen to them.

This song is not what you would expect from this band and is very thought provoking; don’t expect to find many more from them like it!

The track is called After Forever and can be found on the album Black Sabbath Greatest hits track 11, CLACD200.

The song is 5 minutes 24 seconds long and starts by asking a series of questions.

The lyrics are included below, the theology is not perfect so you may wish to point these out but it could really help connect with certain young people.

Have a read of the lyrics and see what you think.

After listening to the track it lends itself to discussing the topics it has raised.

The Lyrics start with the question:

Have you ever thought about your soul - can it be saved?

and ends with this statement talking about Christ:

The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate: Or will you still jeer at all you hear? Yes! I think it’s too late.
