Spider Web.

This is a fairly easy to set up using bungee shock cord and vine hooks.

The team stand one side and the aim is for them to get all the team to the other side without touching the cord.

The catch is that once someone has gone trough one hole no one else can use it.

Fire starter.

This is a fantastic team challenge as part of a camping trip where solving the puzzle earns them their food.

Suspend a rope between two large trees 15 - 20 foot above the ground and attach a bag containing their food for their evening meal.

Give the group one box of matches and a dry news paper and then tell them they have to make a fire that is big enough to burn down their fod so it can be coked.

Flat Pack.

This is a team challenge I have used on young people to great effect on many occassions.

Purchase a flat pack chest of drawers or something simillar that has alot of parts and give it unopened to a team of 6 to 8 young people.

The brief is they have to assemble the unit in the time it takes them and everyone in the team must play a part.

Giant Skip.

This is a different team building challenge inspired by watching kids in the playground where I work 1 day a week.

This challenge is for 10 to 20 young people.

For this you will need a giant skipping rope around 50 foot long. The task is to get he whole group skipping together.

I have seen 13 succeed but there is room for more.

A4 Tower.

All you need for this challenge is teams of two or three and one piece of A4 card per team.

The aim is in the given time they have to build the tallest free-standing tower they can using only the card.

They may cut it, fold it, tear it or manipulate it in any way they want.

Give the group ten minutes with the rule that they must not touch the card for the first five, this encourages them to plan and come up with a statergy first.

When time is called set them off.

At the end measure the towers and discuss how they worked as a team, did they have a plan at the end of the time or did they just disagree.

Semaphore (well sort of).
