I have always loved the idea of angels in disguise to do Gods work and penned this about a homeless guy I now count as a friend.

I get really frustrated when I hear people moaning about young people for no justified reason. I wrote this after a bus journey where two elderly people moaned the whole way about the young and “the youth of today”. It was so hard not to ask them why they were so negative.

Many young people struggle with self image and need affirming that they are valued and beautiful. I wrote this poem after a conversation with a group of teenagers who all struggled when they look in the mirror.

Again this could be used as a discussion starter to open up the subject.

We found a book of poems my wife wrote many years ago and felt this was spot on for Good Friday.

It was by his grace that we are saved,

our sins he came to bare.

We hung him on that cross of wood

and it’s our lives that held him there.

The rope that flogged him was our hate.

The crown our lies and lust.

it cannot corrode faith, <P>

it cannot eat away peace <P>

and it cannot destroy confidence. <P>

It cannot kill friendship, <P>

it cannot shut out memories, <P>

it cannot silence courage and cannot invade the soul. <P>

It cannot reduce eternal life, <P>
