Great post by Mark over on Way out West on how the media portrays young people in the UK. I won’t summerize what he has written as it is great so check it out.
Have just cauht up with ths film and it is superb. Based on the true story o a teacher in America who is determined to make a difference to th class everyone else has written off.
The film is by Hilary Swank and is based on The Freedom Writers Diary.Â
I love things that challenge stereo typing and these hoodies by young people from the CYP Art Flat do that really well.
Two are covered in images of young people engaged in positive activities, very thought provoking. They were displayed in the window at Prospex and appeared on a float in this years Lords Mayors Parade.
Matt Calvert of Prospex is about to embark on his sabattical and will be visiting different youth work projects in the UK and the Bronxs USA. I have just purchased my first set of Boomwhackers, these are tuned musical tubes if you haven’t come across them before. They have loads of potential from team building, and worship. The best thing is everybody seems to love them and want a go.
I am at present experimenting with some kids worship ideas more to come soon.
