After Forever: Black Sabbath

There by the Grace of God: Manic Street Preachers

The Manic Street Preachers have been around for years and are currently enjoying a new wave of popularity, many of their songs have an edge that makes you question and think. <P>

Their music can only be best described as Rock with strong guitar riffs and vocals. <P>

This track can be found on the Forever Delayed CD (track 5) and lasts for 3 minutes 45 seconds. <P>

U2: 40

This is truly a fantastic worship song originally track 10 on the War album and then the closing track on Under a blood red sky which is by far the best version to use.40 is what it says Psalm 40 and the chorus will float around your head for hours. It is infectious and powerful; it is full of truth and can only be described as pure worship. On the live version when the instruments fade and you are just left with the crowds singing the chorus over and over you can sense a connection with God being made.Personally I dont think the DC Talk version does this song justice as the vocal simplicity of U2 version is complicated by them and much is lost by that, but dont take my word for it check it out for yourself. If the young people you are working with relate to such bands this track will be used again and again.BeefThe lyrics are below:”40″I waited patiently for the LordHe inclined and heard my cryHe brought me up out of the pitOut of the miry clayI will sing, sing a new songI will sing, sing a new songHow long to sing this songHow long to sing this songHow long…how long…how long…How long…to sing this songHe set my feet upon a rockAnd made my footsteps firmMany will seeMany will see and fearI will sing, sing a new songI will sing, sing a new songI will sing, sing a new songI will sing, sing a new songHow long to sing this songHow long to sing this songHow long…how long…how long…How long…to sing this song

Massive Attack: 100th Window

Alien Ant Farm: Flesh and Bone

This really is a great track with lyrics talking about trust, love, the line “remember who built your home” is very poignant. It is track 3 on the album and is 4 minutes 28 seconds long. This would be a great song to use if you wanted to talk about putting Jesus back to the place he had when you first became a Christian. Or you could use it to start a discussion about being created by God for a purpose, but dont take my word for it have a listen yourself. If you want to put them in a category I guess it would be the new metal genre, the Christian equivalent would be Project 86.Beef

Feeder: Echo Park

This really is a little gem and is quite an uplifting tune and would be great to use with quotes of thoughts projected up as a reflection after a talk.
You will find it on the Echo Park album and is track 5 which lasts 3 minutes and 51 seconds.
The chorus is fantastic with the lyrics this is our time, we cant rewind. Our place to shine out. If thats not a line crying out to be used then I dont know what is.
