Tree Planting

This is something I had the pleasure of doing when I was ten planting one of many conker trees (Horse Chestnut if you want to be correct) in the village I lived in. It is now very mature and I have had the joy of taking my girls to collect conkers from it.

All tucked up in your bevy bag.

For this you need to know what you are doing or need to take someone who is qualified in mountain craft, if you are unsure then don’t do it.

Sleeping under the stars is an amazing experience especially when away from the city.

For the best experience sleep in a survival bag or Bevvy bag with a good quality sleeping bag. This will keep you perfectly warm for the night.

It is good to have thermals incase it is a cold night.

With a group all tucked up in the open air conversations seem to go quite deep and nearly always someone will ask why we are here.

I recently did this for the first time and cannot wait to do it again although next time I would take some mozy repellant!

Impact Weekends

An impact weekend is where you take a group of young people to give a weekend of practical work to put their faith into action. These work best if it involves taking them out of their comfort zones. < ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The sound of silence.

Arrange to take your group to a working Abbey or monastery preferably one that has a vow of silence and spend the day there with your group.

Most of these will have several small chapels and beautiful grounds.

For many this is a really daunting thought especially the silence but most come away changed.

Star Gazing.
