New Year.
At the start of the session give each person a pen, paper and an envelope.
Challenge them to write down their dreams, goals, aspirations and to be honest. Also challenge them to write down these for their relationship with God, spiritual goals.
You may want to give some guidance on goal setting first.
Assure them that the only people who will see them is themselves and God.
When the have finished get them to write their name on the envelope and then seal them with a wax seal (this bit is worth the effort).
Tell them that they will be placed in your loft, safe or secure place until a years time.
Then pray for them and close the session.
The key to this is your teaching first then not forgetting to return them next year.
Mark was always fantastic at this and would even send them onto people if they had moved away or left the group with a letter of challenge and encouragement.
The powerful part is that for many of the young people they would discover how much they had moved on spiritually over the past year. Many say that it really helps them stay focussed on their goals knowing that they would get these back in a years time.
I would thoroughly recommend this but only if you are prepared to return them the following year, it often leads to great excitement and testimony about how good God is.
