Amazing twinkle!

Get the congregation or group to stand and sing Amazing Grace to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle little Star.

It sounds very easy but in reality because both tunes are well known it is incredibly difficult.

It is also very funny the first time I came across this was with around four hundred people who started well with the words of Amazing Grace but ended with the end of Twinkle Twinkle.

If you think the group won’t know these choices choose two well known songs you think they will.

Catch it drop it.

Get everyone standing in a circle and stand in the centre, throw the ball to someone and say either catch it or drop it.

Sounds simple but if you say catch it they must drop it and if you say drop it they must catch it.

It is harder than it sounds and can be a real laugh.

It has the great effect of waking you up.

It amazes me how competetive people get in this simple game.

Dramatic Emotions.

Before you start write an emotion on slips of paper such as anger, hate, heartbreak, happiness etc.

One by one people draw a slip of paper and have to dramatically act out the emotion whilst everyone guesses what it is.

After it is guessed right you can either discuss issues it raises or just carry on with the game.

Sculptures

Get the group to form a sculpture just using their bodies.

It can be a piece of furniture or famous landmark.

When they tell you they are ready throw a large white sheet over the people to define the shape and photograph the result.

The effects can be really stunning and is a great way to break the ice with a difference.

Grid Buster

Give everyone a piece of paper and a pen and get them to draw a 6 x 6 grid on it so that the boxes are big enough to write in (or print these out ready).
The top left hand box stays blank, then get people to shout out five catorgories and write these in the top boxes ie cars, shops, tube, stations, etc. Then take five letters and write thesee down the side five boxes.
Now everyone has ten minutes to come up with a word in each box beginning with the letter, they will get ten points if they are the only one to get it and five if someone else also has it.
At the end of ten minutes go through each letter and add scores.
To find the winner get everyone standing up and count up in fives from say eighty when it gets to your score you sit down.

Silent Witness

Give everyone a piece of paper, pens and a saftey pin or piece of tape and ask them to write words or draw a picture that describes themselves, in silence.

Then everyone pins them to their chests and walks around looking at each others.

Pictures are then shuffled and participants are asked to identify the person to which the picture belongs.

Speller!

Get two people a leader a young person would work well and the challenge is to have a spell off.

Have ten words linked to a chosen subject and each round the word is given then they have to spell it.

First person, first letter to the other person for the second letter and back and forth until the word is spelt or mis-spelt.
