Cultural Lunch

Food is a great leveller when we eat together we talk, we laugh, our taste buds come alive but so do our other senses and barriers are broken down.

This is a valuable piece of work if you work with young people from different ethnic backgrounds.

Get them to arrange a cultural lunch where each group brings food from their own ethnic traditions. On the day they are encouraged to sample food from all groups, to ask questions maybe learn a greeting in each language.

Hot food hot debate.

Frozen Bananas

This is so simple anyone can manage.

Simply peel a banana, wrap it in tin foil and bung it in the freezer.

When frozen simply unwrap, leave a couple of minutes before eating and enjoy.

It is like eating icecream but really healthy.

I was skeptical but they are great and will go down a storm with young people.

Go on try one.

A little bit of toast.

Stick a toaster in your meeting room and a selection of spreads.

It’s really sociable and smells great.

We supplied a white and brown loaf and 6 spreads which will last for several weeks.

Cost effective and the young people love it.

The worlds longest Banana split

You will need:

Plastic guttering washed well, this joins together so you can make it as long as you like.

You may want to line the guttering with cling film but that is up to you.

Fill the guttering with ice cream, bananas, toppings etc let your imagination run wild and end your evening with this.

You will need a couple of spare people to assist with setting this up but it is worth it.

Give everyone a spoon and let the feast begin. (Another theme I think).

Be prepared it could get messy.

B-B-Q Bananas

This really could not be simpler, take the bananas and run a knife along one side to split the skin and chuck them on the barby cut down.

Leave them on so the skin goes black turn them over and when black all over take them off and peel into a bowl and eat.

They become soft and sweet and lend to a syrup type topping. Once tried your group will want these time and time again.

Go on try them!
