Good Friday Image.

I drew this a while back to help a group start thinking about some of the harder parts of Good Friday. You are welcome to use it but please let me know how and where.

(I was e-mailed recently asking why I use charcoal and not much colour and it is simply I am badly colourblind but also love the tacktile way you use charcoal).

Crown of Thorns

This crown of thorns was made by one of my young people (Macca) during a reflective weekend as part of The stations of the Cross instalation. It was made from clay, plastic and card. I photographed it and turned to a negative.

It is a powerful image you are free to use but please tell me where and how. You can get larger versions via flickr.

A Poem about Lent

The best way to do this is type up the poem leaving blanks for them to fill in as below. Feel free to use this it was penned by me.

I’d find it hard to give up______________

And ______________

And ______________

And ______________

To give up ________________ would be OK.

But _____________________ there would be no way!

Some things I could give up right now,

What’s good about Good Friday?

Oxymorons are two words we use together that when you think about them contradict each other or mean the complete opposite.

It works well to print the words up large to give a visual and see if they can guess the answers, my favourites are below:

Silent Scream

Plastic glasses

Same difference

Why Jesus Died!

You will need: a large glass bowl, two pints of water, iodine, spray starch, Ilford rapid fixer, a white cloth heart or person (about A4 size) and a overhead projector. Iodine is available from most chemists, the rapid fixer from a good photography shop and the spray starch from the supermarket.

Cross Prayers

What happens after you die?

Buy or borrow a standard household S-bend for a bathroom sink, I used to live in a run-down student house with a non-functioning outdoor sink - which saved me all of 80 pence, but otherwise remember not run the sink without the plumbing.

Tell everyone that you have had problems with your toilet and you wonder if anyone can tell if it is blocked.
