Teenager with four Kidneys.

Great to see a positive story about a teenager in last weekends Observer!

A 18 year old teenage girl who recently discovered she has four kidneys is hoping to donate two of them to pople in need of a transplant.

She is one of a few people who has four kidneys growing naturally and after hearing of a 3 year old in need of a transplant realized she could help others in need. Laura made the decission without knowing how this works but is determined to make a difference.

Stop and Search!

I draw to to help me process things I am thinking about. Part of my work is detached and stop and search is a big issue.

This week one young person got stopped and searched and showed us the report, as he walked away from us a police mini bus screached up next to him and four police jumped out and seached him again. This happen two more times on the way home.

Point the finger.

Two versions of the same picture to help generate discussion.

Unless we tackle the root causes of a problem we will never see real changes.

For disussion:

When you look at the picture where do you point the finger?

What is the cause of the problem?

How can you help the young people like those in the picture most effectively?

Is the answer as simple as we first think?

Who do you blame?

The group of young people drunk on the street or the off liecense that has willingly sold them the alcohol knowing that they are underage?

Who do you blame?

The group of young people hanging out in groups on the street with their friends or the local authorities and government for not supplyig or funding enough good facillaties or youth workers to engage them in positive activities? Or their parents for not knowing where they are or what they are doing?

Father Christmas Banned From Primary School.

This will make a great discussion starter on Christmas, it was in the papers this week.

A primary school in the UK gas banned Father Christmas from visiting their primary school because they say it encourages the children to drink Coca Cola. The headteacher has said that due to Cokes Christmas advertising over the years he has become aquainted to the product so he has banned it due to the schools healthy eating policy and no fizzy drinks rule. However he will allow Santas green clothed elves to come in his place.

Freedom

Here are two pictures to help you think about freedom, they can be used to help stimulate discussion around this key Biblical theme. The first should raise some interesting debate about how free we are.

(You are free to use both images but you may not use this work for commercial purposes. Should you wish to use them commercially contact Beef via the site.)

How would you define freedom?

Stealing a Bible.

This was in yesterdays “The London Paper” I’m sure it will be useful somewhere when talking about the Bible, the ten commandments or as a discussion starter.

Singapore: A judge who sentenced a man to four months’ jail for stealing a Bible gave him a copy as a gift. Telling the defendant to open it, he said: “You will see at page 65 that it says, ‘thou shalt not Steal.’”
